With the Common Core State Standards guiding their way, teachers will be able to transform classrooms into inquiry-based learning communities where they learn alongside their students about how readers, writers, and speakers think, make decisions, and communicate their ideas. To clarify this standards-based, big picture thinking, Maria will share possible teaching scenarios and how teachers can make minor teaching moves that will nudge learners toward reaching the complexity of thought and application of knowledge that the standards expect.


Pendulum or Quilt? The Lessons We’ve Learned About Literacy Instruction
